Mironov Says Russia Threatened by ‘Masonic Conspiracy’

Paul Goble

Staunton, March 21 – Vitaly Milonov, the Duma deputy of the ruling United Russia Partywho attracted withering criticism for his anti-Semitic remarks in February  -- see windowoneurasia2.blogspot.com/2017/02/anti-semitism-on-rise-in-russia-and.html -- now says “a Masonic conspiracy” threatens Russia and that he has asked the government to investigate.

The deputy says that “Masonic lodges are openly working for the establishment of a new world order and are subordinate to foreign leaders” and that they are in violation of Russian law which prohibits foreign and trans-national organizations from getting involved in Russian affairs (ria.ru/society/20170321/1490454567.html and kasparov.ru/material.php?id=58D0DE75B3552).

Milonov also says that Russia has a long history of prohibiting Masonic organizations and kept them “under the strict control of the state” to prevent them from working against Russian interests.

The deputy’s words have already provoked a response from Andrey Bogdanov, the grand master of the Grand Lodge of Russia. He accused Milonov of being ignorant of history, pointing out that among prominent Russians who were Masons were Kutuzuv, Suvorov, Griboyedov, and Pushkin.

“The Grand Lodge of Russia never in its works has discussed issues of religion and politics,” Bogdanov says, adding that “the first two traditional toasts at its banquet after work are For Russia! and For the President of Russia!”

Nonetheless, Milonov’s revival of the pre-1917 Russian nationalist belief in “a Jewish-Masonic conspiracy” is likely to gain some traction as reports in response to the death of David Rockefeller about the supposed existence of a behind-the-scenes world government and its campaign against Russia show (argumenti.ru/live/2017/03/526656).
